Morris J. Wruck, 76, of Camanche, passed away, Sunday, November 5, 2023 at this home surrounded by his loving family.
A Memorial Service and Masonic Blue Lodge Service will be held at 5:00pm, Friday, November 17, 2023, at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Visitation will be from 2:00pm to the service time Friday at the funeral home. A Celebration of Morris’ life will be Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 1:00-4:00pm at the Clinton Moose Lodge.
Morris Jacob Wruck was born on June 12, 1947, in Yankton, South Dakota, the son of Abner and Luella (Handel) Wruck. Growing up in Scotland, South Dakota, after school he moved to LeClaire where he worked in the QC area. He was part owner of the Cody Inn until 1972 when he married Diana (Lind) and moved to the Camanche area, where he resided with his bride of 51 years. He worked for the Chicago NW Railroad Shops and bought an ice cream store for his wife. He became a member of the Clinton Jaycees in 1972 and later became a JCI Senator #32717 in 1982. He then went to work for Caterpillar Tractor in Mt. Joy for approximately 10 years. He then did various jobs. He went to auctioneering college in Mason City and has donated his time to many benefit auctions for various organizations. He bought a carnival and did flea markets in the Midwest and Texas. He then bought his first limo in 1989 and four others and a party bus where he ran M&D Limo for 10 years. He also worked on pipelines and heavy highways construction as a Teamster.
He came down with cancer in 2003 and beat it. He moved to Lake Delhi to fish and helped operate the dam and drove bus parttime for the elderly and handicaped. He retired, sold, and moved to Camanche where he as resided since. Then cancer came back in force. He passed peacefully in his sleep. He was surrounded by many nieces, nephews, and friends for days.
Morris is survived by his wife of 51 years: Diana; two sons: Robbie (Barbara) Wruck, and William “Bill” (Bethany) Wruck of Camanche, Iowa; four grandchildren: Anna, Trace, Jack and Grace; and two great-grandchildren: Violet and Tyrus. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Myron.
