Michael "Mike" Ray Pittman's Obituary
Michael “Mike” Pittman, 63, of Coralville and formerly of Clinton, Iowa, died Monday, April 22, 2019, at his home in Coralville. Services will be 11:00AM Friday, April 26, 2019 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Clinton. A celebration of Mike’s life will follow the service in the new church hall. Visitation will be held from 9:00AM until the service hour at the Church. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting snellzornig.com. Pallbearers will be Mike Griffin, Dr. Gary Bernard, Jim Marshall, Steve Eggers, Sean Connell and Tom Pittman.
Mike was born December 10, 1955 in St. Charles, Illinois, the son of Robert and Laura “Jo” (Reynolds) Pittman. Mike was a Clinton High School graduate. He graduated from Iowa State University with his Fishery and Wildlife Biology degree and graduated from Arizona State University with his Engineering degree. Mike married Ann Witt January 9, 1982 in Clinton, Iowa.
Mike had been employed with Shive Hattery and Civil Constructors, Inc prior to joining ACI, (Air Control, Inc.) as an owner and partner in 1989. He retired in 2013.
Mike was a member of Prince of Peace, he was a co-founder, player and coach of Muddy River Rugby Club and inducted into their hall of fame in 2015. He was a long time coach and referee for the YMCA soccer program, an active member of Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited, was a volunteer with Junior Achievement, Gateway United Way volunteer, previous YMCA Board member, served on both Prince of Prince Parish Council and Finance Council, was a former Prince of Peace School Board President, served on the Diocese of Davenport Building Commission and was construction project manager for the building of Prince of Peace School, Church and Parish Hall. Mike was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Ann; children, Dr. Matthew (Jeff Loeffelholz) Pittman of Chicago, IL; Melissa (Major Matthew USAF) Kettler of Altus, OK; Elizabeth (Dr. Christopher) Moothart of North Liberty, IA and Lauren Pittman of Iowa City, IA; granddaughters, Wren Moothart and Peyton Kettler; brother, Bill (Loretta) Pittman of Vernon Hills, IL; sisters, Pat (Ron) Hinton of Pendleton, IN and Jean (Jeff) Medinger of Clinton, IA.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Michael R. Pittman Foundation. Memorials may be left or sent to Venmo @MichaelR-PittmanFoundation, Citizens First Bank or Snell-Zornig Funeral Home or at the Service/Visitation at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
