Meryl A. Boysen's Obituary
Meryl A. Boysen, 87, of Camanche, died Friday, February 8, 2013, at Eagle Point Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center – Clinton.
Funeral Services will be 1:00pm, Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at the Evangelical Free Church. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Camanche VFW. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Evangelical Free Church. The Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family.
Meryl Alvin Boysen was born on January 12, 1926 in Clinton County, Iowa, the son of Christian and Anna (Fallasen) Boysen. He was a 1943 graduate of Elvira High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict 1953-1955. He married Marlene M. Martinson on August 15, 1953 in Dubuque, Iowa.
Meryl farmed outside of Low Moor for over 35 years. He also was a real estate agent for Howes & Jefferies for 10 years.
Meryl was a former member and past president of Immanuel Lutheran Church – Camanche, past president and member of the Low Moor Lions Club, past director of the Camanche Bank, board member of Mt. St. Claire College, a Farm Bureau member, and member of the Evangelical Free Church. He was an avid golfer, gin rummy player and enjoyed trout fishing. He was a wonderful husband, father, and loved being called “Opa” by his beloved grandchildren.
Meryl is survived by his wife: Marlene of Clinton, two sons: Keith (Jennifer) Boysen of Camanche, and Jim Boysen of Camanche; one daughter: Andrea (Charles) Volk of Long Grove, Iowa; and five grandchildren.
Meryl was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
