Melvin Steffey's Obituary
Melvin Steffey, 98, of Clinton, IA, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at his home in Clinton. Services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, July 23, 2022 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the service hour Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting snellzornig.com.
Melvin was born March 27, 1924 in Charlotte, Iowa, the son of George and Edith (Poole) Steffey. Melvin was a WWII United States Navy Veteran, serving from 1941 – 1947. Melvin married Jacqueline Rupert April 11, 1974 in Clinton; she died November 12, 2013.
He was employed at Clinton Corn Processing in the Sugar House for more than 27 years, retiring in 1986.
Survivors include his children, Sandra (William) Chambers of Camanche, IA; Donna Steffey of Florida; Ricky (Theresa) Steffey of Goose Lake, IA; Paul (Lisa) Steffey of West Alexandria, OH; 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Mel was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana, two brothers and two sisters.
