Maxine Showerman's Obituary
Maxine Showerman, 96, of Clinton, passed away, Monday, June 3, 2019 at Prairie Hills – Clinton.
Services will be 1:30pm, Monday, June 10, 2019 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 12:30pm to the service time at the funeral home.
Lillian Maxine Carter was born on September 28, 1922 in Huron, South Dakota, the daughter of Artie and Myrtle (McGee) Carter. She attended school in Huron and relocated to Iowa with her first husband.
She was employed for 28 years as a bookkeeper in the administration department at Medical Association Clinic , PC in Dubuque, Iowa, retiring in 1989.
She married Virgil Showerman on July 10, 1993 in Dubuque, Iowa. Maxine and Virgil shared a love of traveling. They purchased a motor home and were known to travel all over and take lots of pictures of their exploits.
After Virgil’s death Maxine moved into Prairie Hills where she made many acquaintances and enjoyed the hustle and bustle of life there. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church – Clinton.
She is survived by her brother Clifford (Darlene) Carter, brother-in-law Fred Showerman, and although she didn’t have children of her own she left behind many nieces and nephews that she treated like her own.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother Art Carter.
