Maxine Hook's Obituary
Maxine L. Van Hook, 83, of Clinton, died Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Eagle Point Nursing Home, Clinton. Funeral Services will be 12:00pm, Friday, November 28, 2008 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Tom Huebner, Joe Ray, Terry Van Hook, Aaron Van Hook, Mike Mandrell, and Russ Mandrell. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00am to the service time at funeral home. Maxine Lillian Hargens was born on April 24, 1925 in Grand Island, Nebraska, the daughter of William and Florence (Johnson) Hargens. She married Lloyd A. Mandrell in 1945, she later married James L. Van Hook on March 30, 1951 in Morrison, Illinois, he later died on August 23, 1971.
Maxine attended the Grand Island, Nebraska schools. Maxine was employed with Nielsen’s Clearing House for many years as a sorter. Maxine was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall, enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, fishing, and playing cards. Maxine is survived by two sons: Tim (Diana) Mandrell of Clinton, and James (Loreen) Van Hook, of Clinton; two daughters: Luann (Dan) Huebner of Camanche, and Cheryl (Lyman Dickens) Ray of Clinton; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, one son, and one granddaughter. The family requests that memorials be made to the family.
