Maxine Hilgendorf's Obituary
Maxine Malinda Zingelman Redell-Hilgendorf, 93, of Clinton, died Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the Eagle Point Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral Services will be 1:00pm, Thursday, February 19, 2009 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Michael C. Brewer officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00-8:00pm at the funeral home. Maxine Malinda Zingelman was born on January 16, 1916 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of August A. and Sadie L. (Miller) Zingelman. She married Charles M. Redell on December 31, 1938 in Clinton; he died March 10, 1970. She later married Louis J. Hilgendorf on September 4, 1976; he died in 1989. Maxine was a 1934 graduate of Lyons High School. Maxine was the head cook at the Alverno Nursing Home for 16 years until retiring in 1984; prior to the Alverno she was employed in the kitchen at Clinton High School, the Clean Towel Laundry and also cleaned houses. Maxine is survived by a daughter: Linda Redell of Clinton; five step-sons: James (Marlene) Hilgendorf, Donald (Sharon) Hilgendorf of Lake Tomahawk, Wisconsin, Jerry (Clarice) Hilgendorf of Clinton, Tom (Jan) Hilgendorf of Clinton and Bill Hilgendorf of Savanna, Illinois; a sister-in-law: Arlene Thurmond of Prophetstown, Illinois, and a brother-in-law; William Redell of Silvis, Illinois, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a son, and a step-son.
Memorials can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, the Clinton Humane Society, or the American Heart Fund.
