Maxine Boardway's Obituary
Maxine L. Boardway, 87, of Clinton, passed away, Saturday, October 20, 2007 in Clinton.
Memorial Services will be 11:00am, Friday, October 26, 2007 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Dennis Glew officiating. Following the service there will be a reception in the church basement where the family will greet friends. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Maxine Lorraine Snell was born on July 10, 1920 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of William F. and Laura A. (Luthans) Snell. She married Dr. C. Graham Boardway on June 18, 1941 at the First United Methodist Church in Clinton; he later died on May 25, 1998.
Maxine was a 1938 graduate of Clinton High School, and also attended Mount St. Clare College.
Maxine was a homemaker and enjoyed volunteering in her community with the Visiting Nurses Association and by tutoring reading in the elementary schools. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church, P.E.O, and enjoyed playing golf and cards.
Maxine is survived by two daughters: Barbara and her husband Dan Miller of Woodstock, Illinois, and Beth and her husband Jose Ribeiro of Lexington, Massachusetts; five grandchildren: Andrew Miller, Nicholas Miller, Amy Miller-Torres, Paulo Ribeiro and Lino Ribeiro; two great grandchildren: Graham Miller and Anastacia Torres; and one sister: Jane Snell-Drake of Gardner, Massachusetts.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother and his wife: Robert H. and Orrie Snell.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Alverno Nursing Home pastoral care.
