Mary M. Staszewski's Obituary
Mary M. Staszewski, 76, of Clinton passed away Friday, May 8, 2026 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Celebration of Life will be from 12:00 - 2:00 pm, Friday, May 15, 2026 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Please join the family for food and fellowship to honor Mary’s life. Her urn will be buried with her husband at the Rock Island National Cemetery.
Mary Margaret Long was born on May 13, 1949 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of George and Margaret (Walsh) Long, Sr. She was a 1968 graduate of Mount St. Clare High School. She married Edward S. Staszewski on July 2, 1968 in Clinton, Iowa; he preceded her in death on September 17, 2021. Mary worked as a teacher assistant in the Clinton Community Schools for many years.
Mary was a feisty lady that really enjoyed life. She enjoyed reading and taking the grandkids to Happy Joe’s and Whitey’s Ice Cream. She was a member of Clinton AMVETS Auxiliary and the 90th Division Infantry. She enjoyed being outside and time spent with her family.
She is survived by her two children: Christina (David) Cleary of Clinton and Brian (Christy Cline) Staszewski of Bettendorf; grandchildren: Ryan (Amy) Cleary of Mason, Ohio, Koby (Amanda) Cleary of Davenport, Iowa, Addy (Joey) Fragoso of Minot, North Dakota, Jacob Staszewski of LeClaire, Iowa and Claire Staszewski of LeClaire, Iowa; great grandchildren: Audrey and Anna Cleary and one more on the way; bonus son: Cory (Amy) Coppess of Clinton; Brian’s ex-wife Angela Staszewski of LeClaire, Iowa; sister: Patrice Long of Tampa, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother George Long, Jr.
