Mary E. Newman's Obituary
Mary E. Newman, 74, of Clinton, passed away peacefully Monday, June 14, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral Services will be 1:00pm, Thursday, June 17, 2021 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Fulton Township Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be David Keller, Justen Rolston, Jerry Edfors, Scott Edfors, Randy Morrow, and Mike Edfors, and Greg Edfors. Visitation will be from 11:00am to the service time at the funeral home.
Mary Etta Edfors was born on November 3, 1946 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Pete and Ethel (Hesseltine) Edfors. She lived and was raised on Beaver Island until she was 17 years old. She married Charles George on December 19, 1964 in Fulton; he died July 19, 1975. She later married Ronald Newman on May 15, 1976 in Clinton.
Mary was a homemaker. She loved spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed her garden, flowers, and birdwatching. She truly had a heart of gold. She wouldn’t hesitate to help anyone in need.
Mary is survived by her husband: Ronald of Clinton; her children: Robert George of Clinton, Tammy (Kevin) Roling of Bryant, Iowa, Lisa (Carmelo) Coyomani of Morrison, Illinois, Diane (Josh) Dahl of Camanche; a stepdaughter: Lisa (Pat) Carroll of Des Moines, Iowa; 16 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; and one sister: Marjorie (Stan) Rolston of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband; 8 brothers, 4 sisters, and a great-granddaughter.
