Mary Ann Hall's Obituary
Mary Ann Hall, 84, of Clinton, Iowa passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at home. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held from 5:00 to 7:00PM Friday, January 20, 2023 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Mary was born on June 2, 1938 in Clinton, Iowa to Harry and Annabelle (Herrity) Gundelfinger. Mary was United in marriage to Kenneth Hall in Clinton in July of 1988.
Mary received her degree in nursing from St. Francis School of Nursing in Lacrosse Wisconsin. After receiving her license as a Registered Nurse Mary joined the US Navy Nurses corps where she served as a lieutenant from 1963-1967. Mary retired from Mercy Hospital in Clinton in 2000 where she was able to fulfill her passion of caring for patients, specifically babies. She loved each one of them and it showed in everything that she did. Mary was a member of Chancy Lutheran Church where she sang in the church choir for many years.
Mary had a true passion for life and she always accepted everyone that she met for who they were and treated them as if they were family. Mary loved spending time with her family, bowling, traveling, fishing, boating and she enjoyed her dogs. In her free time, Mary enjoyed attending any event that her many nieces and nephews participated in from awards ceremonies to dance recitals to any sporting events. You could always count on Aunt Mary to be watching proudly. Mary enjoyed playing cards and other games with her family and friends. Mary loved her sister and was forever grateful for their relationship. Mary was so proud of her four nieces and she treated each of them as if they were her own. There was nothing that she would not do for them and she proved that time and again over the years.
Mary is survived by her husband Kenneth Hall, one sister, Ellen McClain, one step daughter, Donna Stoner three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, five nieces whom she loved like they were her own, Billie Jo (Timothy) Horner, Barbara (Robert) Fout, Stephany (John) McKown, and Stacey (Jason) Faur and Rae Ann Gundelfinger. Mary is also survived by many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews, cousins and lifelong friends. Mary is survived by a special niece, Sierra (Jason) Geronzin, whom was by her side until the very end. That’s what Aunt Mary wanted.
Mary is proceeded in death by her parents, Harry and Annabelle (Herrity) Gundelfinger, a brother and sister-in-law, William and Phyllis (Hossette) Gundelfinger, a brother-in-law, (William McClain), a nephew that she dearly loved, William Gundelfinger, and a great great niece, Rachel.
