Martin "Andy" Leonard Andresen's Obituary
Martin L. ‘Andy’ Andresen, 95, of Camanche passed away Monday April 24, 2023 at Fieldstone Nursing Facility in DeWitt. He was born June 14, 1927 in Clinton to Martin and Florence (Dean) Andresen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian Faith in Christ Episcopal Church of Clinton. Andy married Shirlie Dunn August 7, 1954 in Charlotte. They renewed their vows in March 2011 when traveling to Negril, Jamaica, for their niece Tammy’s wedding. Andy left high school in his junior year to join the Navy during WWII. He served until August 1945. After the service, he returned to school and graduated from Lyons High School in 1948. After graduation he worked on the George Hardison farm near Bryant until joining Clinton Corn Processing Company in February 1956. He retired from Clinton Corn after 29 years in April 1984. He was a member of the Standard Brands Quarter Century Club, the American Legion, and the Moose Club. He was a past member of the Tag-A-Long Trailer Club of Clinton, and the Florida International Avion Travel Cade Club. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Camanche. After retirement, Andy and Shirlie moved to Florida for 15 years, returning to Camanche in 1999. He enjoyed going to Flea Markets with his son-in-law Kevin and collecting Pepsi glasses and baseball caps with advertising on them. Andy loved living in Florida enjoying the warm winters and monthly get-togethers camping with the Avion Club. Andy and Shirlie traveled around the country in the Avion and later a motorhome. They enjoyed taking their grandchildren camping in the summer time. Andy enjoyed fishing and hunting and he was a man who could fix just about anything. Andy and Shirlie visited Hawaii for their 20th anniversary in 1974. They visited Punta Cana, Dominican Republic in 2013. They visited several countries in Europe in 1990, and enjoyed bus tours with Jim and Pat Driscoll. He enjoyed riding around in their Red Toyota convertible with the top down and his favorite send off after a visit was Toodleloo. He loved his family very much.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shirlie; daughters Debra (Michael) Boehde of Onalaska, WI, and Cynthia (Kevin) Killean of Camanche; grandchildren David (Lucy) Boehde, Dawn (Matthew) Hoff, Ryan (Chelsey) Killean, Rachel (Ben) Burrow, and Shannon Killean; ten great-
grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren; a brother James ‘Pete’ Andresen and three sisters-in-law Janice Borman, Pat Driscoll, and Janice Dunn; and several nieces and nephews. Andy was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and Jack, and sister Dorothy.
A Funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, April 29, at Camanche Immanuel Lutheran
Church. Burial will follow in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 until the time
of the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Camanche Immanuel Lutheran Church, or to the Camanche Fire Department. Pallbearers will be David Boehde, Ryan Killean, Matthew Hoff, Ben Burrow, Richard Ketelsen and Patrick Killean. Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren.
