Marlyss A. Fisher's Obituary
Marlyss “Marty” Fisher, 77, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away at her home during a peaceful snowfall on February 13, 2025, with family by her side. She was born on November 1, 1947, to Agnes and Harvey Fullick of Camanche, Iowa, and later became the beloved stepdaughter of Thomas Kerens of Camanche.
Marty graduated from Clinton High School. In 1963, she married Lanny Kruse of Clinton, Iowa, and in 1967, they welcomed a son, Tim Kruse. Marty and Lanny cherished a lifelong friendship. She later married Ron Fisher on June 6, 1980. Together, they were a wonderful team, always supportive of each other’s hobbies and talents. They tended the same garden plot every season for over 45 years, growing what many considered the best tomatoes and cucumbers in Clinton. If you’ve dined at a local Clinton café, there’s a chance you’ve enjoyed their harvest.
Marty was a talented seamstress and the owner of the former Creative Costumes during the 1990s. She was actively involved in the Clinton Showboat Theatre, Clinton Creeps, the Clinton Moose Club, Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Clinton Children’s Discovery Center. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Marty handmade over 600 masks and donated them to the local community—an act that reflected her deep love for serving others.
She particularly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was also an enthusiastic Iowa Hawkeyes fan and never turned down the excitement of a slot machine when luck was on her side.
She will be deeply missed by her stepchildren, Rhonda Cook, Laurie Fisher, and Brent Fisher; her grandchildren, Lanie, Nicole, Lisa, Chelsea, Helena, Paige, Cody, Naomi, Adam, and Maya; and her great-grandchildren, Alice, Maddi, Trey, and Ivy. Marty had grit, and she passed that on.
She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Ron Fisher; her son, Tim Kruse; her brothers, Ken Fullick and Lee Fullick; her parents; her grandparents; and many beloved fur babies she cherished along the way.
Marty was cremated, as per her wishes. A celebration of life will be announced at a later time. Condolences to the family may be made at snellzornig.com. Donations in Marty’s honor can be made to the Clinton Showboat Theatre or the Clinton Humane Society.
Marty’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to MercyOne Hospice—especially Carrie, Kinsey, and Amy—as well as TLC Care Services. Your support made it possible to honor Marty’s wishes, and for that, we are deeply grateful.
