Marlene J. Melvin's Obituary
Marlene J. Melvin, 88, of Clinton, passed away, Monday, February 8, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics – Iowa City.
Funeral Services will be 12:30pm, Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Nathan Dever, Azeriah Evans, Jahkiah Evans, Dane Runge, Trenton Runge, and John Robbins. Visitation will be from 11:00am to the service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Marlene Joyce Mumm was born on December 11, 1932 in McCausland, Iowa, the daughter of Duey and Irene (Keller) Mumm. She was a 1952 graduate of Clinton High School. She married Lawrence Roggendorf on November 14, 1954 in Clinton; he died June 11, 1991. She later married Lawrence Melvin on February 24, 1994 in Clinton; he died October 24, 2016.
Marlene was a homemaker. She enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, camping, puzzles, and crafts. She was an avid gardener and love tending to her flowers. She was best known for her pies and was fondly known as the “Pie Lady” at the farmers market for 18 years.
She is survived by her four children: Nancy Roggendorf of Clinton, Mark (Karen) Roggendorf of Los Angeles, California, Julie Stracener of Clinton and David (Cathy) Roggendorf of Clinton; two step-children: Lawrence (Cathy) Melvin, Jr. of Clinton and Ruth Michelle (Bob) Mason of Baton Rogue, Louisiana 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, five brothers, her son: John Eric, a step-daughter: Kimberly Galbraith.
