Marilyn J. Simpson's Obituary
Marilyn J. Simpson, 88, of Camanche passed away Monday, May 16, 2022 at her home in Camanche.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, May 20, 2022 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Marilyn Jeannette Hoon was born August 2, 1933 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Nettie (Simmons) Hoon. She married WIlliam Simpson on February 12, 1949 in Camanche, Iowa, they recently celebrated 73 years of marriage and they are so very proud of their five generation family. She worked as a school crossing guard for many years and did housekeeping both at the Sterling Motel and getting mobile homes ready for those returning to Florida for the winter.
Marilyn enjoyed garage sales, flea markets and taking walks with her husband. She loved the time they spent in Florida first as snow birds from 1984 to 1990 and then living there permanently for 10 years before returning back to Camanche.
She is survived by her husband Bill Simpson of Camanche; three children: Bill (Nelly) Simpson of Camanche, Roy (Marcia) Simpson of Clinton and Mary (Melvin) Kale of Davenport, Florida; grandchildren: Chad, Michael, Sherry, Christopher and Mark; great grandchildren: Justin, Jessica, Jeffrey, Kadince, Whitly, Gracyn, Allison, Anna and Andrew; and great great grandchildren: Madelyn, Noah and Henry.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Linda Anderson and brother Richard Hoon.
