Marilyn Joyce Lockard's Obituary
Marilyn J. Lockard, 96, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024 the Alverno Health Care Facility. Funeral Services will be held 10:30AM Tuesday February 13, 2024at Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton, IA. Visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00PM Monday February 12, 2024 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting snellzornig.com. Pallbearers will be Jason Montgomery, Curt Stamp, Richard Burlingame, Jr., Brent Burlingame, Zac Watson and Todd Leslie.
Marilyn Schultz was born December 18, 1927 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Emil and Leona (Erickson) Schultz. She was a 1945 Clinton High School graduate. Marilyn married Lyle Lockard in Clinton September 16, 1950; Lyle died July 7, 1996.
Marilyn was employed with the Clinton Community Schools as a secretary for more than 17 years retiring in 1990.
She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, member of the Antiquer’s Club and PEO Chapter HV. She enjoyed golfing as a member of the Fulton Country Club and also enjoyed playing bridge, she loved to travel and visited many countries. She collected unusual Santas and often presented programs about the history of Santa. She liked to garden and work in her yard and maintained an herb garden. Marilyn enjoyed her family and following activities of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, David (Tricia) Lockard of Burleson, TX; daughters, Kimberly Lockard of Brookfield, WI and Kristi Montgomery of Camanche, IA; grandchildren, Jason Montgomery, Erin (Todd Leslie) Montgomery, Brittany (Zac) Watson and Bailee Lockard; great-grandchildren, Charlie and Blake Watson and Sawyer Lockard and sister Susan (William) Stamp of Urbandale, IA
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Eleanor Burlingame.
