Fate had us cross paths with Mardy and Wally when we bought their beautiful brick bungalow in Oak Park to start raising our family. We always referred to it as OUR home (theirs and ours). We were new to Illinois (in my case new to the country) and they immediately took us under their wing. Not only did they let me in on where to buy the best bread and old world goodies which reminded me of home, but also tended to our toddler when our our twins were born prematurely and I had to make frequent trips to the hospital to feed them.
We were heartbroken when Wally was diagnosed with cancer and succumbed to the disease a few years later.
All this time we managed to keep in touch with Mardy and always looked forward to exchanging our news at Christmas time.
Both she and Wally were very special people and will live on in our hearts forever.
