Marcella Sparlin's Obituary
Marcella R. Sparlin, 73, of Clinton, died Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the home of her niece. Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Thursday, September 27, 2011 at the Clinton Chapel Snell Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Herman Eickert, Fred Eickert, Shawn Eickert, Steve Larkin, Robert Krajnovich, and Carl Sparlin. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kenny King, George Kramer, III, Les Wade, Bradley King,.and Willie King. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at the funeral home. Sadie Marcella Rosella Sparlin was born on July 12, 1938 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of William and Olive (Sprague) Sparlin. Marcella was an operator at Lamson-Sessions from 1971 until retiring in 1998. She also owned and operated the Silver Rail Tavern with her mother. In her younger years Marcella was very active in the community and sat on numerous advisory boards. Marcella was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Eagles Auxiliary, the 600 Bowling Club. She enjoyed family celebrations and gatherings, bowling, darts, baseball, fishing and socializing with her friends at the Eagles Club. Marcella is survived by one sister: Ruby Martin of Clinton; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, William, Wilbur, Carl & Robert Sparlin, and four sisters; Harvyetta Krajnovich Parmer, Juanita Jewel Mangler, Laura Sparlin, Wanda Eickert. At the familys request all memorials can be made to the Chemo Unit at Medical Associates or the Clinton Humane Society.
