Mamie DeMarr's Obituary
Mamie DeMarr, 74, of Clinton died Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Mercy Living Center-North in Clinton. Visitation will be from 4-8:00 pm Monday, August 24, 2009 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Cremation will follow the visitation. Mamie Bates was born on September 21, 1934 in Westville, IL, the daughter of William and Viola (Snooks) Bates. She graduated from Clinton High School. She had been employed as a CNA for many years with Wyndcrest Nursing Home. She was a die hard Chicago Cubs fan, loved John Wayne, and enjoyed going to the Wild Rose Casino. She is survived by 3 daughters, Carol (Jimmy) Mankowski and Barb (Dennis Hoefer) Watters both of Clinton, and Liz (Zach) Rexilius of Dubuque, IA, 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 3 brothers: Kenny Bates and Andrew (Linda) Bates both of Clinton, and Jack Bates of Chicago, IL, and 4 sisters: Karen Ryan, Ruth Shockey, and Caroline Harris, all of Clinton, and Carolene (Jay Jay) Straton of Manchester, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, and one grandson. Memorials may be made to the family.
