Lulu Mead's Obituary
Lulu Anna Mead, age 87, of Morrison, Illinois and Austin, Texas passed away in Austin, Texas on February 20, 2009. Services will be 11:00AM Friday, February 27, 2009 at Calvary Lutheran Church Buffalo, Iowa. Visitation will be from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral home & Crematory. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Buffalo, IA. She was born in Odebolt, Iowa on October 12, 1921 to Oscar and Lena Caroline (Vogel) Lindquist. She was baptized in November 1921 at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake, Iowa and confirmed in May 1935 at St. Peter?s Lutheran Church in Coon Valley, Iowa. She married Claude Edward Mead on December 11, 1943 in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 28, 1983. Lulu Anna is also preceded in death by her sister, Lois Carnine, son Harold Mead, stepson Claude Lee Mead and stepdaughter Betty Buxbaum. She lived six months of the year with her daughter Lou Ann in Austin, Texas and Linda Shamon in Morrison, Illinois. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daugthers, Lou Ann and husband Terry DeVetter of Austin, Texas and Linda and husband Fred Shamon of Morrison, Illinois; son Dennis and wife Donna Mead of Bettendorf, Iowa; eight grandchildren, who called her ?Granny?, Carrie, Brian, Kim, Scott, Matt, Shellie, Tammy and Chad; and thirteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother LeRoy (Ossie) and wife Carol Lindquist and sisters-in-law Jean and Amanda.
