Lowell Oesterborg's Obituary
Lowell (Ozzie) L. Oesterborg, 86, of Fort Worth, TX and formerly of Clinton died Sunday, October 25, 2009 in Texas. Visitation will be Thursday, October 29, 2009 from 4 to 7pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Services will be Friday, October 30, 2009 at 10:00am at Church of the Open Door, Clinton. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn.
Lowell was born March 27, 1923 in DeWitt, Iowa the son of Elmer and Florence (Lowry) Oesterborg. He was a DeWitt High School graduate and received his BA from the University of Iowa in 1949. He was a United States Navy Veteran; He flew a torpedo bomber and was a carrier-qualified pilot in the Navy. He married Delores Humphrey in Iowa City December 15, 1946; she died March 23, 1993. He later married Mary Roselee (Rosie) Oesterborg on August 31, 1996 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Lowell was employed at Clinton Memorial Park for many years and later bought the Dubuque Memorial Garden Cemetery and owned and operated that for several years.
He was a member of the Church of the Open Door, Clinton. Lowell loved his church family and his community. He never met a stranger, and he loved sharing the hope of Jesus with all he met.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Roselee (Rosie) of Fort Worth, TX, daughters, Nancy (Eugene) Richter of Fulton, IL and Patsy (Kevin) Riley of Carrollton, TX; sons, Lyle (Sherry) Oesterborg of Cedar Rapids, IA and Larry (Pam) Oesterborg of Fulton, IL; 3 step children, John (Kristy) Carlile of Flower Mound, TX, Linda (Aaron) Williamson of Conroe TX, Joseph (Ashley) Carlile of Springfield, MO; 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; and his sister, Helen Thurloff of Walnut Creek, CA.
In addition to his wife Delores, he was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Donald Oesterborg.
