Lowell Lorraine Marsh was born on November 5, 1926 in Deep Creek Township, Iowa, the son of Charles and Ivy (Thomson) Marsh. He was a 1944 graduate of Clinton High School. He served in the United States Army Air Corps. He married Sue A. Widner on May 26, 1973 at Zion Lutheran Church – Clinton.
Lowell worked as a sodajerk at Marcucci’s and was a club manager of the Disabled American Veterans Club in Lyons. He later worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 41 years retiring in 1989 as a trainman-switchman.
Lowell was a member of the Moose Club, past master of the Albany Masonic Lodge #566, member and musician of the Lyons Lodge #93, past master of Western Star Lodge #100, and past member of Camanche Lodge #60. He was a member and part-time organist of the Clinton Scottish Rite Bodies and was vested with the rank of KCCH in 2007, and served as grand musician for the Grand Lodge of Iowa from 2005-2006. He was a piano player for the Five Keys Orchestra and the Carousel Night Club and entertained at many social functions and nursing homes. He was also a life member of the American Federation of Musicians and the United Transportation Union.
Lowell was a blood doner with the Clinton County Chapter and Central Florida Blood Bank and attained the gallon milestone. He loved to make kids laugh. He liked to act drunk. While in Galena, Illinois, sitting on a bench on the main street, he turned his cap and he would stumble after us down the street. He played the part so well. He also talked like Donald Duck to the kids. He had many friends. Some he met causally and some by falling in the river while fishing. His savior was non other than Ike Lind. He enjoyed his time with the Maintenance Department at Lyons Masonic Lodge but soon was called the coffee sweet roll club. Chris Eichmeier always bought the sweet rolls. He enjoyed fishing. He so enjoyed all his family and friends. He loved any animal and was bit by many.
Lowell is survived by his wife: Sue of Camanche; two sons: Allen Marsh of Davenport, Jeff Marsh of Camanche, two step-daughters: Linda (Harold) Teagarden of Missouri, and Laura (Roger) Sikkema of Fulton; 8 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.
