Loren Kahler's Obituary
Loren "Moses" J. Kahler, 67, of Camanche, died Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Graveside Services will be 11am, Monday, December 6, 2010 in Rosehill Cemetery in Camanche. Loren John Kahler was born July 24, 1943 in Chadwick, Illinois, the son of Rufus A. and Clara (Friederich) Kahler. He was a Chadwick High School graduate and then served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1970 during the Vietnam War. He received the Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Emblem, Vietnam Service Medal w/ two Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, and Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation Badge. Later he worked for DuPont for over 30 years. Moses was an active member of the Camanche VFW and American Legion; He was recognized for his work with the POW-MIA. He participated in many fund raising activites for charity and loved to do puzzles especially suduko puzzles. He is survived by 7 sisters: Wilma Smith of Davenport; Lois Lanier of Barstow, Illinois; Janice (Nick) Parrino of Denham Springs, Louisiana; E. Elaine Castaneda of Carbon Cliff, Illinois; Thelma (Jerry) Ford of Brookfield, Illinois; Mavis (Tony) Guidice of Hemet, California; and Diana (Walter) Brown of Rocklin, California; 2 brothers: DeWayne (Alice) Kahler of Tucson, Arizona and Mick Kahler of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews. Moses was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister Lila Miatke; and 2 brothers Arlon Kahler and Gerald Kahler Memorials may be made the Camanche VFW, Breast Cancer Association, or a charity of your choice.
