Lois Claire Johannsen's Obituary
Lois Claire (Driver) Johannsen, age 89, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021. She was living at Prairie Hills Assisted Living and Memory Care.
Lois was the daughter of Prescott and Helen (Morehouse) Driver, born in 1931 in Clinton, Iowa. She graduated from Clinton High School, Class of 1949. Lois met Rodney Johannsen while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. They married in Clinton in 1954 and lived in San Antonio until Rodney was honorably discharged. They next moved to the Johannsen (2nd generation) family farm, near Miles, Iowa, where they raised a family, crops and livestock. Years later they retired from farm life and moved to Tama, Iowa. After a few years, they moved back to the Clinton area.
Lois was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Miles, serving as a Trustee and Past President of the United Presbyterian Women; she was active in American Legion Auxiliary Unit #677 (Miles) and served as Past President; Lois served as Past President of the Miles Literary Club. She was a member of the Oak Hill Cemetery Association of Tama and served as Chairman of the Tama Election Board for many years.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Raymond Driver; sister, Marjorie (Paul) Witt; sister, Ruth (John) Benson; husband, Rodney; and son, Robert Johannsen.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Pamela Moore (David), League City, Texas; daughter, Gail Lohmann (Rick), Zumbrota, Minnesota; daughter, Sharon Johannsen (Gabi), Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and son, Richard Johannsen (Kristi), Clinton, Iowa, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A private family service will be held on Saturday, April 17th, at the Snell-Zornig Funeral Home in Clinton, followed by a private family burial at the Teeds Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Miles, Iowa.
