Lily Martindale's Obituary
Lily May Martindale, 95, of Clinton, IA, died Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Alverno Health Care Facility in Clinton, IA. Services will be held at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory on June 14, 2008 at 2:00PM. Visitation will be at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig on Saturday, June 14, 2008 from Noon to 2:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Paul Schmidt and Michelle Martindale. Her grandson Aaron Martindale will be an honorary pallbearer. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lily May was born on June 1, 1913, in Wheatland, IA, the daughter of Jacob and Anna (Henricksen) Thomas. She was a 1930 Wheatland High School graduate. She married Leo Macy Martindale on April 30, 1939 in Clinton, Iowa; he died February 2, 1997. She was employed as a homemaker and as a seamstress. Lily knitted baby hats, gloves, and mittens and donated them for many years. She had also been employed as a sales clerk at S.S. Kresge Co. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and had been an election worker for many years. Survivors include her sons, Dennis (Priscilla) Martindale of Midlothian, VA; Gary (Cheri) Martindale of Clinton, IA; grandchildren, Michelle Martindale of New York City, Rebecca Schmidt of Clinton and Aaron Martindale of Bangalore, India; a great-grandson, Brady Schmidt, sister, Dorothy Roeder of Bozeman, MT and brother Ray Thomas of Clinton, Iowa.
