Lester L. Langrehr Jr.'s Obituary
Lester L. Langrehr Jr, 88, of Clinton, was joyfully welcomed into the arms of his precious Lord on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Addington Place in Clinton, IA, surrounded by his adoring daughters.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 9:00 am, at the River Church in Clinton, with the funeral immediately following at 10:30 am. Interment will be at Reeseville Cemetery – Green Island. Serving as pallbearers will be Darwin Neff, Darrin Hull, Cameron Hull, Matthew Hull, Terry Langrehr, and Trevor Langrehr. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Noah Schurbon. The Snell-Zornig Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Lester was born on September 18,1936 in Clinton, IA, the firstborn of Lester and Florence (Olsen) Langrehr. After graduating from Onslow High School in 1955, he enlisted in the US Army. He married his lifelong companion, Emmalou Darline Culver on August 9, 1958.
He had a tender, servant’s heart, which was always evident in the way he lived his life. He was fiercely devoted to and very protective of his family and country. His love for his wife was unmatched. After returning from the Army, he was employed briefly with Clinton Engines as a Metallurgist and it wasn’t long before his skills were noticed by Caterpillar, earning him a position as a quality control engineer for many years. After retiring from Caterpillar, he went on to work at Blackhawk Foundry in Davenport, and later at Precision Metal Works in Maquoketa, until his final retirement at the age of 80.
Lester leaves behind a long-reaching legacy. He is lovingly survived by his two daughters: Darla (Darwin) Neff of Clinton and Lisa (Darrin) Hull of Springfield, MO; three grandchildren: Kristina Hicks of Wisconsin, Cameron (Holly) Hull of Arkansas and Matthew Hull of Springfield; three great grandsons: Noah, Caden, Elias and one great granddaughter, Rory, arriving in May; a daughter by heart: Carla Monteiro-Batistella (Mauro) of Brazil; five siblings: Marianna (Darrell) Stevens of Maquoketa, IA, Sharon (Bill) Keister of Monmouth, Terry (Joy) Langrehr of Culpeper, VA, Dan (Diane) Langrehr of Walhalla, SC, Zoe (Bruce) McPherson of Rochester, MN, sister-in-law Carol Langrehr of Davenport, IA, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother, John.
