LeRoy D. Cleppe's Obituary
LeRoy D. Cleppe, 84, of Clinton, died Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the Alverno Health Care Facility – Clinton.
A memorial visitation will be Friday, February 6, 2015 from 4:00-7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. A private family graveside service will be held at Springdale Cemetery at a later date.
LeRoy D. Cleppe was born on January 24, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of LeRoy J. and Gladys (Bielema) Cleppe. He was a 1949 graduate of Clinton High School. He married Marlene Jurgensen on August 26, 1951 in Clinton.
LeRoy proudly served in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953 earning the rank of Sergeant.
LeRoy worked for ALCOA as a maintenance supervisor for 30 years retiring in 1993. He was also employed with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 14 years.
LeRoy is survived by his wife: Marlene of Clinton; four children: Mike (Jo) Cleppe of Davenport, Therese (Don) Johnson of Clinton, Bob Cleppe of Florida, and Lisa (Jeff) Sikkema of Fulton; fourteen grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a sister: Patricia (Jim) Drury of Camanche, and a half-sister: Sharon (Jim) Juricic of Joliet, Illinois.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter: Debbie, one son; Donald, two half-brothers, and a granddaughter.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
