Leon C. Frick's Obituary
Leon Carl Frick was born February 12, 1939 to Carl and Myrtle (Goering) Frick in rural Scott County. Leon grew up farming alongside his father, brothers and sister before he joined the armed forces. He was a United States Marine reserve serving his country for six years. Upon his return to Scott County Leon began his lifelong career of farming consisting of herdsman for many neighbors, showing cattle and hogs nationwide.
Leon met his wife, Carla Jean Wells, in 1968. They were married on December 6, 1969. Leon, Carla and their three children Brian, Bruce and Brenda (from Leon’s previous marriage) worked to establish their own herd of cattle and hogs in Scott County while growing their family by 2 additional sons Tim & Steve. The young family moved to rural Clinton County in the winter of 1978 welcoming their youngest son, Doug shortly after.
Leon continued to farm growing his hog operation and showing on the national stage. Leon enjoyed many things in life and was always a presence in any room he walked into. He loved farming, golfing, traveling, spending time with family and friends, participating in tractorcades, parades, serving on his church council, being a member of the Scott County Pork Producers, and being a proud member of the Low Moor Lions.
Leon’s family continued to grow with a total of 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren (twins coming any day to make this 17). He found much joy in family gatherings watching the kids play and grow.
Preceding Leon in death were his parents, Carl & Myrtle Frick, his brother Lloyd Frick, Sisters-in-law Margaret Frick, Janet Frick, Mother and Father-in-law Harlan and Faye Wells, Brothers-in-law Randy Cline, Gary Wells, Harlow Wells, Greg Wells and other beloved cousins and friends.
