Leo W. Smith's Obituary
Leo Smith, 79, of Camanche, passed away, Sunday, June 16, 2019 at the Alverno.
Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00-7:00pm at the funeral home.
Leo Warren Smith was born on June 15, 1940 in Porum, Oklahoma, the son of Leonard F. and Ruby (Gray) Smith. He was a 1959 graduate of Lowell High School – Lowell, Indiana. He married Carol Housenga on January 25, 1969 in Clinton.
Leo was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union – Rock Island for over 50 years retiring in 2001.
Leo enjoyed playing golf, was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and was a member of the Camanche Bowling Association. He was also an active member of the Daybreak Church in Clinton.
Leo is survived by his loving wife of 50 years: Carol of Camanche; his son: Tim Smith of Des Moines, Iowa; his daughter: Deborah (Doug) Dodson of Camanche; three grandchildren: Dylan, Drake, and Danika Dodson; his sister: Darlene Green of Yuba City, California, brother-in-law: Robert (Sonja) Housenga of Clinton; sister-in-law: Connie (Randy) Nielsen of Fulton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Memorials can be made to the Daybreak Church – Clinton.
