Lee E. McClure's Obituary
Lee E. McClure, 82, of Clinton passed away Friday, March 6, 2020 at MercyOne – Clinton.
Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 am, Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church – Clinton. A Rose Croix service will take place at 11:00 am followed by the funeral service. Burial will take place privately at Center Grove Cemetery in Elvira.
Lee Edward McClure was born October 15, 1937 in Nashville, Tennessee, the son of Marcus and Sallie (Jenkins) McClure. He was a 1955 graduate of Clinton High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Parsons College in 1966. He married Jeanine Dingmon Fier on June 2, 1990 in Clinton, Iowa. He worked in Sales and finance for many years.
Lee was an active member of the First United Methodist Church serving on many committees over the years and attended numerous mission trips during those years. He was a member of the Western Star 100 York Rite, the KAABA Shrine of Davenport, High Twelve Club and the Order of the Eastern Star. He served his community by being a blood donor, volunteering at Mercy Hospital and being an avid supporter of Trees Forever. He was an Eagle Scout, loved to dance and eat ice cream, and cherished time spent with his family and friends.
Lee is survived by his loving wife Jeanine McClure of Clinton; Jeanine’s children: Cary Fier of Leesburg, Florida, Kurt (Nancy) Fier of Clinton, Greg Fier of Clinton and Kelly (Curtis) Petersen of Camanche and their families; two siblings: Peggy McClure of Clinton and Harold (Pat) McClure of Camanche; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Marcus McClure this past June.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial be made to the First United Methodist Church, Trees Forever or a charity of your choice.
