Lawrence McClimon's Obituary
Lawrence (Larry) E. McClimon, 85, of Clinton, passed away, September 7, 2025 at the Alverno.
Per his wishes there will be no services, and his urn will be privately buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes is assisting the family.
Lawrence Edward McClimon was born on August 27, 1940, to Joseph and Virginia (Dolan) McClimon. After graduating from St. Mary’s High School, he proudly serving the United States Navy for four years. After being discharged from the Navy, he worked several jobs ending with many years at Ralson Purina. He also volunteered with Creeps for Charity in the 1980’s. After retiring he drove the bus for the MTA, and driving the trolly was his favorite part of the job. He also drove the school bus for the Clinton Community School District. He was extremely proud of his Irish heritage and was the family genealogist; it was his favorite subject.
He married Nora Jean Cook on December 23, 1959; she preceded him in death on December 6, 2018.
Larry is survived by his children: Laurel (Marvin) Good of Clinton, Mike (Mary) McClimon of Safety Harbor, Florida, David (Chris) McClimon of Marion, Iowa, and son-in-law: Dave Mills of Clinton; 8 grandchildren and one great-grandson; a brother: Pat McClimon of Johnston, Iowa, and Kay Guinta of Johnston, Iowa. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter: Dea Mills, his parents, a brother: Gerald, and a sister: Connie.
