Lauren R. Hyde's Obituary
Lauren R. Hyde, 77, of Clinton, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the University of Iowa, Hospital.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM Monday, December 15, 2014 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Clinton. Visitation will be held from 4 PM to 7 PM Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory and 9 AM until the service hour at the church. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lauren’s grandsons, Nathan McKone, Jordan Allen, Justin Regenwether, Tyler Hyde, Cole Hyde, Hunter Elvidge, Skylar Hyde, Cody Ferrill and Bud Price.
Lauren was born April 25, 1937 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Edward and Clara (Smith) Hyde. Lauren was a 1955 graduate of St. Mary’s High School and attended University of Notre Dame. He married Judith “Judy” Tallman on September 6, 1958 in Clinton, Iowa.
Lauren was part owner and sales manager at KROS for more than 32 years, retiring in 2004.
He was a member of Prince of Peace, the Knights of Columbus and the Clinton YMCA, where he served on the board. He was an avid golfer and member of Valley Oaks Golf Club. Lauren’s proudest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren. He was very proud to be part of building the new Prince of Peace Catholic Church. His faith was very important to him. He loved Notre Dame Football and the White Sox. Lauren officiated basketball for many years, umpired baseball and was president of the Gateway Officials Association. He also coached St. Mary’s grade school basketball and grade school football and was active in the St. Mary’s Booster Club. He was member of the 1953 St. Mary’s State Championship basketball team. Lauren was on the Board of directors of the Lumber Kings baseball club. Lauren also ran for the County Board of Supervisors.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; children, Sherri (John) Allen of Bettendorf; Deb (Earl) Krogman of Clinton; Terry Hyde of Prophetstown, IL; Angie (Juan) Torres of Fort Madison and Erik (Amy) Hyde of Greenville, WI; grandchildren, Sarah (Bud) Price, Nathan (Joanne) McKone, Jordan Allen, Justin (Gwen) Regenwether, Nikki (Cody) Ferrill, Sierah Torres, Hunter Elvidge, Skylar Hyde, Tyler Hyde, Lexi Hyde and Cole Hyde, great-grandchildren, Brooks, Grady and Brinlee Price and Easton Ferrill and sister, Leah Rae Hyde of Bettendorf.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Coley Hyde, granddaughter, Kylee Hyde and brother, Gene Hyde.
Memorials may be made to the Prince of Peace Parish Hall Building Fund.
