Larry L. Thomas' Obituary
Larry L. Thomas, 87, of Clinton, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, May 21, 2026, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to Noon on Friday, May 29, at Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is honored to serve Larry’s family.
Larry Lee Thomas was born September 28, 1938, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Maurice and Vivian (Nye) Thomas. He attended Clinton High School and continued his education, earning numerous certificates in engineering and construction trades.
He retired from St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica in California, where he served in engineering management for eighteen years. After retirement, he moved to Silverton, Oregon, where he owned and operated a small business specializing in laser artwork, design and construction. Larry was a skilled machinist, carpenter, and artist.
Larry enjoyed painting, woodworking, designing puzzles, traveling and volunteering with local historical and numerous community organizations in Silverton, Oregon.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Penny (Donald) Klingler of LeClaire, Iowa; his son, Andrew Thomas of Los Angeles, California; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and his siblings: Terry (Delores) Thomas of Clinton, Scott (Tracy) Thomas of Clinton, Lynn Hopkins of Macomb, Illinois, Jeff Thomas and Mark Thomas of Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Steve Thomas
