Larry Ross' Obituary
Larry L. Ross Sr., 66, of Camanche died Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10:00am Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Clinton. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm Monday, October 18, 2010 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Cremation rites will follow the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Reggie Reppert, George Sills, Jim Stantan, John Harrington, Guy McCausland, and Dave Hendrickson. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Craig, Paul Ridgway, Chris Turner, Steve Mace, “Doc” Devine, and all the gang at the gun club. Larry Leslie Ross was born on February 7, 1944 in Muscatine, IA, the son of Robert J. and Frances I. (Brocket) Ross. He was a Muscatine High School graduate and attended Muscatine Community College. He married Judith Strouss on March 3, 1968 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Clinton. He was a Unites States Army veteran stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. Larry was a lab technician at the former Chemplex Chemical Company for over 36 years retiring in 2002. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and a member and past president of the Gateway Trap and Skeet Club. He is survived by his wife Judy of Camanche; two sons: Larry (Krista) Ross Jr. of Gays Mill, WI, and Christopher Ross of Camanche; 3 grandchildren: Zachary, Holly, and Ryne; two sisters: Melody (Tim) Stevens of Muscatine, IA, and Patty (Mike) Beal of Iowa City, IA; two brothers: William (Joan) Ross of Clinton, and Robert Ross of Davenport; his mother-in-law MaryAnn Strouss of Camanche, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother in infancy. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or The American Cancer Society.
