Kent Schaley's Obituary
Kent E. Schaley, 94, of Clinton, IA, died Monday December 7, 2009 at his home. Services will be 11:00am Friday, December 11, 2009 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be from 3:00pm to 7:00pm Thursday, December 10, 2009 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tab Kraft, Mark Howard, Kevin Berry, Kent Lee, Jeff Wiley, Eric Berry, Conner Lee and Bill Wright. Kent was born July 22, 1915 in Clinton, IA the son of Edward and Blanche (Krebs) Schaley. He was educated in the Clinton Schools. He married Viola M. Morris in Clinton, IA on April 10, 1937; she died February 9, 2008. He was employed as a firefighter with the city of Clinton for 34 years, he retired in 1977. Kent was a member of the F.O.E. and a former member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church. He was an avid bowler, golfer and cubs fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and played fast pitch softball for over 40 years. Survivors include daughters Pat Lee and Phyllis Howard, both of Clinton, a son, Kenneth "Mike" (Kathleen "Lynn") Schaley of Clinton, 10 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren and his sister, Betty Miller of Camanche, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Memorials may be made to the Clinton Firefighters Association.
