Kenneth E. Smith's Obituary
Kenneth E. Smith, 84, of rural Elvira, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center – North Campus, Clinton.
Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Monday, August 31, 2015 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Elvira Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Nielsen, Mitch Nielsen, Randy King, Mike Pray, Tyler King, and Zak King. Visitation will be from 9:30am to the service time at the funeral home on Monday.
Kenneth Eugene Smith was born on January 22, 1931 at his home in rural Elvira, the son of Marvin and Irene (Scanlon) Smith. He was a 1949 graduate of the Elvira Country School. He married Helen Oelrich on April 12, 1951 at the church parsonage in Elvria.
Kenneth farmed his entire life at the family farm in Elvira. He and his brother-in-law also operated the local corn sheller. He was a member of the Elvira Zion Lutheran Church, the American Legion, loved to fish on Lake Pippen and loved to play cards.
Kenneth is survived by his wife: Helen; his daughter: Debbie (Tom) King of Camanche, and his son: Dale (Linda) Smith of rural DeWitt; four grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and his sister: Margaret Nielsen of Low Moor.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
