Kenneth Nielsen's Obituary
Kenneth L. Nielsen, 82, of Camanche, died, Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus, Clinton. Funeral Services will be 9:00am, Friday, July 11, 2008 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory with Horst Hehr officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Camanche. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home. Kenneth Lyle Nielsen was born on July 30, 1925 in Clinton, Iowa, the son Robert and Alice (DeLoe) Nielsen. He married Ruth Larsen on July 9, 1950 at the Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy from 1942-1946. He was a certified tool/die maker and machinist with the Collis Company in Clinton for 40 years retiring in 1987.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. He is survived by his wife: Ruth of Camanche; two brothers: Gerald Nielsen of Clinton and Eugene Nielsen of Clinton; his uncle: Bob DeLoe of Clinton; and nieces and nephews: David Larsen, Darla (Alan) Feagins, Tim (Mary) Nielsen and family, Nancy Nielsen, Pam (Mark) Spittler, Carol Ann (Bill) Forsee and family, and Jean (Jim) Watts and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother: Thomas. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or to Multiple Sclerosis.
