Kenneth A. Ketelsen's Obituary
Kenneth A.Ketelsen, 90, of Clinton, passed away, October 18, 2018 at the Oldorf Hospice House – Hiawatha, Iowa.
Services will be 10:00am, Saturday, October 27, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church – Clinton with Rev. Dan Pool officiating. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Visitation will be from 9:00am to the service time at the church on Saturday. Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth Alfred Ketelsen was born on July 7, 1928, in Clinton, the son of Karl and Amanda (Ketelsen) Ketelsen. He attended Clinton schools and served in Korea from 1950-1952. He married Arthera Bier on June 14, 1953, they were the first couple married in the newly formed Chancy Lutheran Church; she passed away, June 16, 2014.
Ken was self employed with his father and brothers in the cement business; retiring in 1996.
Ken was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was an active member of Chancy Lutheran Church serving as President several times, deacon, head usher, and head of the building committee and other committees. He became a member of St. John Lutheran Church Missouri synod in February 2003. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Ken is survived by his son: Mark (Sandy) Ketelsen of Moscow, Idaho; two daughters: Susan (Doug) Lloyd of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Mary Beth (Dan) Wagemester of Walford, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Amanda, David, and Kaitlyn Ketelsen, Adam, Parker, and Meredith Lloyd, and Logan Wagemester; two great-grandchildren: Miles and McKinley Campbell; his sister: Arlene (Henry) Langrehr of Clinton, and his brother: Richard (Janette) Ketelsen of Clinton, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son: Keith, his parents, four brothers: Raymond, Gilbert, Marvin, and Harold; and a son-in-law: Ross Vining.
Memorials can be made to St. John Lutheran Church, Chancy Lutheran Church, and the Diabetes foundation.
