Kathy A. Massey's Obituary
Kathy A. Massey, 53, of Clinton, passed away, Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics - Iowa City, Iowa surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Memorial Services will be 11:00am, Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the church. Burial will be at a later date of the Middlebury Cemetery – Barneveld, Wisconsin. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Kathy A. Schmitt was born on March 18, 1961 in Clinton, the daughter of Louis and Norma (Johannes) Schmitt. She was a 1979 graduate of Clinton High School; then attended and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1983. She married Mark Ford Massey on June 7, 1986 in Clinton.
Kathy was a dental hygienist with Dr. Dosland for many years and most recently with her brother, Dr. Randall Schmitt.
Kathy was a member of the First United Methodist Church, enjoyed attending sporting events especially those that involved her children, gardening at home, reading, taking long walks, watching tennis, and taking family vacations.
Kathy is survived by her husband: Mark of Clinton; her son: Evan Massey of Cedar Falls, Iowa; her daughter: Sarah Massey of Chicago, Illinois; her mother: Norma Schmitt of Clinton, Iowa; two brothers: Dr. Randall (Ellen) Schmitt of Fulton, Illinois and Kevin (Cathy) Schmitt of Cambridge, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews; and her brother-in-law: Evan (Amy) Massey of Galesburg, Illinois.
Kathy was preceded in death by father, her brother: Terry, her mother-in-law: Marjorie Massey and her beloved uncle: Father Willie.
Memorials can be made to Trees Forever or to the family to be distributed to local cancer causes in memory of Kathy.
