Kathleen M. Kimmer, 68, of Camanche, passed away on, Tuesday, August 6, 2013, surrounded by her family after a courageous 5 year battle with cancer.
Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Friday, August 9, 2013 at Church of the Open Door. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30am to the service time at the church. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Kathleen M. Baker was born on June 28, 1945 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Darwin and Dorothy (Bates) Baker. She attended Clinton High School. She also graduated from Clinton Academy of Beauty. She married Bob Kimmer on July 27, 1963 at St. Boniface in Clinton.
Kathleen was a beautician/cosmetologist. She owned and operated the Youthful U Beauty Salon.
Kathleen was a member of the Church of the Open Door and active with Manna ministries at church and worked in the kitchen for funerals. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, cooking, and yardwork.
Kathleen is survived by her husband: Bob of Camanche; three sons: Joseph (Mary) Kimmer of Geneva, Illinois, Dale (Lara) Kimmer of Clinton, Marcus (Kimberly) Kimmer of Urbandale, Iowa, and one daughter: Kelly (David) Riojas of Plainfield, Illinois; nine grandchildren: Amanda Kimmer, Erika Kimmer, Ethan Riojas, Vanessa Riojas, Chad Kimmer, Allison Kimmer, Mara Kimmer, Dawson Kimmer, Drake Kimmer; and two great-grandchildren: Mia Romero and Christian Romero; and her brother: Dale (Margie) Baker of Clinton.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one brother, and one grandson: Michael Kimmer.
