Karla J. Marik, 70, of Clinton, passed away, December 17, 2022 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House – Bettendorf.
A Celebration of Life will be held later this spring. The Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family.
Karla Jean Rickertsen was born on July 12, 1952 in DeWitt, Iowa, the daughter of LeRoy and Betty (Scharff) Rickertsen. She was a graduate of Northeast High School- Goose Lake. She married Robert A. “Bob” Marik, on July 30, 1977 in Charlotte, Iowa; he died January 30, 2014.
Karla was a homemaker; and enjoyed her time as an aide at Camanche High School working with the special needs children. She later became a home agent with Swiss Colony.
Karla was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. Her neighbors could hear her every Sunday, win or lose. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Her grandchildren were always her first priority. She loved them all so much. She will be greatly missed by all.
Karla is survived by her daughter: Tammy Marik of Moline, her son: Kevin (Joy) Marik of DeWitt; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; her sister: Sandy (Billy) Vandewalle of Fullerton, Nebraska; her brother: Marty (Mary) Rickertsen of Clinton; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, a daughter, and two brothers.
Memorials can be made to the family or Speak Out Against Suicide.
