Karl Herman's Obituary
Karl F. Herman, 81, of Clinton, died Friday, October 9, 2009 at his home. Memorial Services will be 10:00am, Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor James Machen, Sr. officiating. Burial will take place at the Oak Knoll Memorial Park Cemetery in Rock Falls. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home. Following the visitation the body will be cremated. Karl Frederick Herman was born to Charles and Marie (Nelson) Herman on July 23, 1928 in Waukon, Iowa. He married Vera Jones in 1978. Karl was a graduate of Waukon High School and graduated from college with an electrical degree. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1952 as a platoon medic. Karl worked for ADM for twenty-two years when he retired in 1992. He also worked as the sexton at St. Mary’s Cemetery hand digging graves and mowing lawns. Karl is survived by three daughters: Julia Hammer, Christine Herman, and Paula Ludwick all of Clinton; four sons: Karl (Sheila) Herman, Nathan Herman, Greg (Jean) Herman, and Max Herman all of Clinton; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister: Lourna Freuchte of Waukon, Iowa; one brother: George Herman of Waukon, Iowa. Karl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his daughter: Liza Coleman. Memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society.
