Karen D. Watters' Obituary
Karen D. Watters, 64, of Clinton, passed away, Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Alverno-Clinton.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Friday, July 31, 2015 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Pastor James Machen Sr. will be officiating the service. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be nephews Joel Brown, Greg Brown, Neal Rasmussen, Eric Rasmussen, Troy Smith, Quint Smith, honorary pallbearer Chris Hoffman. Karen D. Rasmussen was born December 23, 1950 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Marvin and Elaine (Dody) Rasmussen. Her father preceded her in death when she was 10 years old, she was blessed to have her caring stepfather Harry Finch. She attended Mt. St. Clare High school. Karen married Gary Watters on November 2, 1968 in Clinton, Iowa.
Karen worked at the Alverno as a Nurses Aide and later did in home health and hospice care as well. She managed the family business, Rampway Bait Shop on 9th Avenue North for many years. Karen’s greatest passion was caring for people, being the hands and feet of Jesus. She volunteered with the Mercy Auxiliary at the Mercy Medical Center for the past 5 years.
She was a loving wife and caring mother. She always made sure she was available for her children and grandchildren. She spent many days with them at the local parks and being at their activities.
Karen was a member of the Church of the Open Door where she dedicated her time to the churches children’s ministry and nursery for many years.
She also severed in several positions on the board of the local Women’s Aglow chapter.
Karen is survived by her husband, Gary of Clinton; one daughter, Michele (Jeffrey) Bonde of Clinton; two grandchildren: Haily and Scott Bonde; one brother, Marvin (Teresa) Rasmussen of Clinton; one sister, Linda (Ron) Smith of Norco, California; her cousin Jolynn (Steve) Pelham of Clinton and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Karen is preceded in death by her son, Todd Watters on March 4, 1986, her parents, and one sister, Judy Brown.
The family would like to use memorials to assist the hospice program at the Alverno.
