Julia Soenksen's Obituary
Julia C. Soenksen, 59, of Clinton, passed away, on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
A Celebration of Julia’s life will be Sunday, September 15, 2013, from 3:00-7:00pm at the Vista Grande – Clinton, with a family prayer to begin at 2:30pm. Per her wishes she donated her body to the University of Iowa. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting her family. Julia Caroline Crigger was born on October 12, 1953 in Bluefield, West Virginia the daughter of William and Joyce (Simpkins) Crigger. She was a 1972 graduate of Clinton High School. She married Thomas Soenksen on June 29, 1974 in Clinton.
Julia was employed with Core-Vens Insurance for several years. She also worked at AC Nielsen’s and in the Clinton County Auditor’s office.
Julia was an avid volunteer, giving countless hours to the Symphony of Lights, Make-A-Wish, RSVP, and numerous other organizations. She enjoyed camping and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.
Julia is survived by her husband: Tom of Clinton; one daughter: Kelli (Chris) Bennett of Wanatah, Indiana, two sons: Eric (Sara) Soenksen of Suffolk, Virginia, and Joseph (Traci) Soenksen of Jacksonville, Florida; 4 grandchildren: Hunter, Emma, and Owen Bennett and Liam Soenksen; her brother: Jeff (Tracie) Crigger of Clinton; sister-in-law: Billie Crigger of Clinton; and her mother-in-law: Luella Anderson of Clinton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
