Julia A. Hackett, 88, of Clinton, passed away, Friday, December 5, 2014, at Mercy Living Center – North.
A Funeral Mass will be 11:00am, Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30am to the mass time at the church. A luncheon will follow the burial at St. Boniface Hall. Julia Ann Jessen was born on May 18, 1926 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Florence (Nixon) Jessen. She was a 1943 graduate of St. Mary’s High School. She married Robert Hackett on September 18, 1950 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church – Clinton.
Julia was an operator with the telephone company prior to working with her husband in their jewelry business Hackett Jewelers, retiring in 1986.
Julia was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, delivered Meals on Wheels for many years, enjoyed fishing and playing golf.
Julia is survived by her husband: Robert of Clinton; two step-sisters: Shirley (George) Green of Grand Mound, Iowa, Emily Ketelsen of Albany, Illinois, a step-brother: Myrle (Donna) Wulf of South Carolina; and her brother-in-law: Lawrence Hackett of Clinton.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials can be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
