Joy E. Payne, 83, of Camanche passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025 at the Alverno Health Care Facility-Clinton.
Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
Joy Elaine VanHouten was born on September 29, 1942 in Clarence, Missouri, the daughter of James and Florence (Turner) VanHouten. She married Lynn V. Payne and they were married for 57 years; he preceded her in death on September 11, 2025. She worked alongside her husband at Payne & Associates doing many jobs from bookkeeping to pouring concrete. She was a hard working woman. She was a member of Clinton Church of Christ and loved time spent with her church family.
She is survived by her daughter Cara (Philip) Barefield of Camanche, two sons: Randy Payne of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Reggie Payne of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two grandchildren: Ashley and Morgan; seven great grandchildren; two sisters: Karen Copenhaver of Boonville, Missouri and Kathy (Wendall) Rufner of Clarence, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Toby Payne, granddaughter Nicole McNelis and brother Neal VanHouten.
