Joseph Wisor's Obituary
Joseph J. Wisor, 77, of Camanche, died Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center – East Campus, Davenport, Iowa. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30am, Thursday, December 16, 2010, at Our Lady of the River Catholic Church with Father Joseph Wolf celebrating. Interment will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Moline American Legion. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00-7:00pm at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Per his wishes the body has been cremated. Joseph John Wisor was born on June 3, 1933 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Roman and Clara (Manikowski) Wisor. He married Bernadette Hahn on April 12, 1958 in Grand Mound, Iowa. Joe was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1953-1955. He farmed near Camanche for many years. He was also a union carpenter for Local #166 in Rock Island. Joe enjoyed fishing, gardening, tending to his flowers, traveling, woodworking, and re-finishing old furniture. Joe is survived by his wife: Bernadette of Camanche; four sons: Jeffrey Wisor of Clinton, Steve Wisor of Seattle, Washington, John Wisor of Davenport, Iowa, and Kevin Wisor of Plano, Texas; three daughters: Julie (Tim) Roberts of Maryville, Tennessee, Jane Lorenzen-Dietz of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Major Bernadette Wisor of Travis Air Force Base, Fairfield CA; 9 grandchildren and one great-grandson; two sisters: Sr. Marjorie Wisor, OSF, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Theresa Cotter of Davenport, Iowa; one brother: Robert (LaVon) Wisor of Iowa City, Iowa; sister-in-law: Mary Wisor of Camanche, brother-in-law: Steve Sharnik of Moline; and many nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter: Pauline; one brother: Francis Wisor, and four sisters: Clara Nugent, Alberta Sharnik, Mary Jost, and Loretta Wisor. Memorials can be made to Genesis Heart Center, Genesis Cancer Center, or the Camanche Food Pantry.
