Joseph R. Mattan, 69, of Clinton, passed away, Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the VA Medical Center – Iowa City, Iowa.
Private Services will be held.
Joseph Raymond Mattan was born on August 2, 1949 in Geneseo, Illinois, the son of August and Josephine (Van De Woestyne) Mattan, Sr. He was a 1967 graduate of Erie High School, and also a graduate of St. Ambrose University. He served in the United States Army.
Joseph married Jill VanVelzer on August 22, 1970; they later divorced in 1981.
Joseph farmed in Cordova, Illinois, and later worked as an accountant.
Joseph enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Joseph is survived by his daughter: Christy (Andrew) Kohtz of Phoenix, Arizona; 3 grandcihldren: Amelia Perry, Dailey Kohtz, and Corbin Kohtz; his siblings: JoAnn (Bob) Snodgrass of Morrison, Mary Bell of Springfield, Missouri, Richard (Joyce) Mattan of Geneseo, Illinois, and Donald Mattan of Bedford, Texas; and his family and friends at the Victory Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son: Jason, and three brothers: August Jr., Emil, and James.
