Jon Marshall Glahn's Obituary
Jon Marshall Glahn, age 83, of Camanche, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Park Vista, Camanche.
Private graveside services will be held Monday, December 18, 2023, at Glahn Cemetery, Goose Lake, IA. Pallbearers will be Brent Holstein, Aaron Holstein, Joe Wendel, and other family members.Online condolences may be expressed by visiting snellzornig.com. Jon was born on December 22, 1939, in Maquoketa, Iowa, the son of George and Jane (Campbell) Glahn Ludwick. Jon graduated from Maquoketa High School and attended the University of Iowa. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Jon married Carol Holstein on October 5, 1964, at the First Methodist Church, Rock Island, IL.
Jon farmed his entire life, and he also owned and operated Cedar Heights Housing Community in Camanche. Jon was an avid bow hunter and fisherman, and he operated his own archery shop for many years. His favorite times were spent in the great outdoors with his many close hunting and fishing friends. He enjoyed keeping in touch with his Maquoketa classmates, and proudly helped organize many of their class reunions. His greatest love was the time he spent with his family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Jon is survived by his wife, Carol, of Camanche, IA; daughter, Stacy (Ryan) Kinkaid of Camanche, IA; son, Wade (Jacqueline) Glahn of Camanche, IA; grandchildren, Annette Kinkaid of Iowa City, IA; Eric Kinkaid of Dubuque, IA; and Ellery and Emily Glahn of Camanche, IA; cousin, Patricia (John) Smith of Cedar Rapids, IA; sisters-in-law, Sharon (Thomas) Casper of Albuquerque, NM; Debra (Joe Wendel) Holstein of Clinton, IA; Denise (Robert) Lee of Jacksonville, FL, and Terri (John) Ledek of Sarasota, FL; brother-in-law, Gary Holstein, of Estero, FL; and several nieces and nephews throughout the United States.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Judith Brandenburg.
Jon’s family is very grateful to the staff of Park Vista Camanche and Genesis Hospice Care for their unwavering commitment, compassion, exceptional care, and positive impact they had on Jon’s life.
