John Zirkelbach's Obituary
John J. Zirkelbach, 88, of Clinton, IA, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 11, 2008 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Maquoketa, IA. Pallbearers will be grandsons, John Zirkelbach, Robert Zirkelbach, Matthew Lawrence, and Jeff King.
John Jasper Zirkelbach was born on February 23, 1920, the son of William and Rosa (Mortensen) Zirkelbach. He grew up in Maquoketa, IA and was a 1938 graduate of Maquoketa High School. He later moved to Clinton in 1940, where he met and married Elizabeth A. Byers on November 24, 1941 in Kahoka, MO. He attended refrigeration school and on April 1, 1946, they together founded Zirkelbach Refrigeration. He stayed active with Zirkelbach Refrigeration until 2006. He was actively involved with the Morrison Sportsman?s Club, Dewitt Sportsman?s Club, and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid trapshooting participant, and also enjoyed roller skating
He is survived by one daughter, Judy (Bob) Lawrence of Yorba Linda, CA; one son, Bill (Pat) Zirkelbach of Clinton; 4 grandchildren: John (Holly) Zirkelbach of Corona, CA, Robert Zirkelbach of Denver, CO, Matthew Lawrence of San Antonio, TX, and Alicia Lawrence of Yorba Linda, CA; and 2 great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 sisters, Dorothy Norton, Marge Miller, and Angie King.
